The Kunstgewerbeverein Frankfurt am Main e.V. is the organiser of the Circular Design Young Talent Award 2025/26. The competition is being run in partnership with FES, Frankfurter Entsorgungs- und Service GmbH, and the Start-ups Working Group of the Polytechnische Gesellschaft e.V.

Design as an economic driver. The space demonstrates how design advances innovation, entrepreneurship, and new business models. This is where the 9th Creative Industries Day takes place.

With MASSIF E in the former E-Kinos, a new space for design, culture and exchange has been created. As part of the Open, the venue becomes the central Worldwide Creative Space, hosting formats such as the Forward Festival as well as further events from design, the creative industries and public discourse.

Brompton x WDC Frankfurt 2026 brings together design, urban mobility and sustainable futures. Through an open call, creatives from across Germany are invited to reinterpret the iconic Brompton folding bike – to be presented during the Open – Design Week Frankfurt RheinMain.

A room installation by Petra Blank. Featuring images, collages, texts, objects. Some of these are specifically intended to be touched and tried out — for example, various analog devices such as record players and typewriters. The overarching theme: Design shapes living spaces.

Chess ’n Jazz is a simple and easy gathering where people listen to a special Jazz-record-selection of Mila Elois Holl and play Chess against friends and strangers of all skill lvls.

In the cozy atmosphere of a diner, we invite you to share your thoughts with us over a special drink designed to bring us together. Based on the premise that extreme viewpoints are overrepresented in the media, this interactive installation highlights the importance of moderate opinions.

In addition to talks and discussions, the focus of the evening is on exchange with experts from design, business, and culture. At MASSIF E, located in the former EKINOS, we provide the setting for a strong kick-off to OPEN MINDS – right in the heart of a creative, urban environment.

The exhibition Massif Creatif: Hermann Vaske’s Creative Experience for WDC 26 serves as the starting point for two days of art, talks, discussions, a film premiere, and an opening evening – accompanied by a film programme and an art exhibition curated by Hermann Vaske.

The exhibition “A Step Ahead / Einen Schritt voraus” at Mathildenhöhe Darmstadt takes the centenary of the Darmstadt Artists’ Colony’s first exhibition in 1901 as an opportunity to explore the relationship between historical and contemporary perspectives in design, architecture and art.

WeKitchen, a kitchen concept designed to embrace diversity and promote inclusion, is part of the exhibition “A Step Ahead” at Mathildenhöhe in Darmstadt. It is located in hall 2, where visitors can try it out and experience it for themselves.

Constructive Alps showcases award-winning projects from a competition by the Swiss Federal Office for Spatial Development and the Principality of Liechtenstein. It highlights sustainable Alpine architecture with innovative approaches in energy, materials and design.

In Raw Dialogues Studio Tobias Hirt presents a selection of furniture and objects from his current design practice. In his work, he develops precise responses to design questions that arise from a deliberate engagement with material, construction, and function.
