Freitagsküche als demokratischer Kunstraum – Design und Dialog im öffentlichen Raum

As part of WDC 2026, Freitagsküche is transformed into a total work of art — reimagined three times over the course of the year. Three invited artists and designers will successively take over the space and entrance area with immersive, large-scale interventions that engage with democratic processes. The interior walls are redesigned and re-papered each time, creating an entirely new spatial experience.

Each intervention is accompanied by an artist-curated programme of readings, guest chefs, discussions, and parties that explore the thematic threads of each artist's practice.

The aim is to create a platform for dialogue between art, design, and democracy — and where better to have that conversation than over a good meal in the welcoming atmosphere of Freitagsküche.

Founded in 2004 in Frankfurt, Freitagsküche is an established art space that brings together artists and cultural practitioners around a shared table each week. Exhibitions, concerts, and other formats regularly accompany the evenings. Over the years, FK has grown into a platform for artistic dialogue and cultural exchange that reaches well beyond the Frankfurt region.
