Demokratie – Orte im Taunus

On May 23, 2026, the Day of the Basic Law of the Federal Republic of Germany, the Hochtaunuskreis will officially launch the project Demokratie – Orte im Taunus.

With this project, the team wants to take a new look at our cities and municipalities – make them visible and honor the places where democracy has been or is being lived. These will include town halls , but also (formal) meeting places, sites of historic decisions, or venues of civic engagement – in short: places where democracy has taken place in the past or is taking place today.

These locations will be marked by artistically designed steles - supplemented by an information text, a OR-code with further content, and educational formats. We do not only want to present already well-known "places of democracy", but also include less obvious, locally significants sites.

The Culture Department of the Hochtaunuskreis district is dedicated to promoting the exceptionally diverse cultural landscape of the Vordertaunus and Usinger Land regions, as well as networking in joint projects in the RheinMain region.
