Republik im KulterCenter

2026

Kulturgesellschaft Bergen-Enkheim

For the past year, the Bergen-Enkheim Cultural Society has been using a retail space in the HessenCenter—provided free of charge, except for operating costs—for events such as readings, painting activities for children, concerts, and theater performances. The aim of the project is to ensure that the space is used continuously during the HessenCenter's opening hours.

The programme and exhibits are developed by the users themselves. This ranges from performances and self-programmed film series to the development of their own formats and productions. Republik CenterKultur provides exhibition space and technology, while the users determine the content—the procedures for this are developed jointly. The stage program of music, readings, dance, and (musical) theater is curated, created, and produced by the visitors—and, of course, consumed by them as well. The idea behind Republik CenterKultur is to deliberately place creative tools in the hands of citizens who are not accustomed to shaping their environment with artistic talents and tools. Republik CenterKultur wants to encourage its users to express themselves artistically and to enter into dialogue with the entire HessenCenter and, ideally, beyond. Republik CenterKultur should become and remain a place where artistic engagement with a wide variety of media and tools takes place, a freely accessible place for creative freedom.
