Pilotprojekt Fischerhallen

December 2025

City of Frankfurt, Making Frankfurt e. V., Kulturamt und Historisches Museum

The historically significant former Fischerhallen, an important part of Frankfurt’s urban history, are set to be reopened to the public in the near future. This revival reconnects with their former role as a place of exchange and encounter, enriching the river promenade with a new, consumption-free space.

The concept envisions the halls as a “third place” — an open, accessible, and welcoming public living room for everyone.

Usage will be guided by the needs and ideas of visitors, while local groups will regularly activate the space with cultural and community events. During the day, the halls will be freely and openly accessible, with organized events taking place in the evenings. Opening hours will be seasonally adjusted and gradually extended.

To ensure the Fischerhallen can open soon, it is crucial to start now with pilot projects and various trial formats. These will raise early awareness of the site, test different uses, and foster interest and identification within the local community. Detailed dates will be announced shortly.
