Design in Dialogue: in Politics and Society
Design can make political processes more understandable and accessible—for instance, through user-friendly public services, new forms of civic participation, or international collaboration. This is not about off-the-shelf solutions, but about design as a method: for negotiating social inequality, rethinking memory, actively shaping democratic processes, and strengthening self-efficacy, creative potential for action, and collective imagination.
The Design Action Plan Frankfurt RheinMain represents the political legacy of WDC 2026: a design policy for the region that is already being developed collaboratively. During the Design Policy Days in November—the official conference of the World Design Organization (WDO)—it will be finalised by decision-makers, designers, and academics before being handed over to policymakers: providing impetus for a future-oriented European design policy.
