JUST ADD PEOPLE_Kulturmarktplatz als Mittelpunkt im Gutleut-West

How can the forecourt of Frankfurt's interim theater venue be transformed into a cultural marketplace? In cooperation with the Frankfurt City Planning Office, we invite you to playfully develop ideas for redesigning the square with the JUST ADD PEOPLE building game.

The former high-bay warehouse of Dresdner Bank is to be converted into a temporary venue for the Städtische Bühnen. This use could lead to problems (traffic, noise, etc.) or it could provide impetus for the transformation of the neighborhood. How should the space be used for the benefit of the public?

JUST ADD PEOPLE is an invitation to jointly design public space and a playful tool for improving relationships – between people and people, buildings and environments. Using a variety of rods, neon yellow connectors, and a set of cards with architectural and social themes, ideas that encourage reflection on our built and lived environment can be easily generated in no time at all.

In this campaign, actors, technicians, the public, residents, and business owners are invited to come together to think of the forecourt as a place of communication, gathering, exchange, and community—or something completely different!

The results of the participatory campaign with JUST ADD PEOPLE will serve as the basis for further urban development.

Anna Hentschel, doctoral candidate in the Urban Future-Making graduate programme on playful participation methods and co-designer of JUST ADD PEOPLE, is planning this participatory campaign in cooperation with Christoph Packhieser and Kirsten Bandi from the Frankfurt City Planning Office.
