- Räume der Demokratie. Vom Ratssaal bis zur Mehrzweckhalle
November 2026
Geist der Freiheit / KulturRegion FrankfurtRheinMain in Kooperation mit dem Kulturamt der Stadt Frankfurt am Main
...
The exhibition project by KulturRegion FrankfurtRheinMain showcases 20 examples of places where people deliberate, discuss and prepare and make democratic decisions. The focus is on how these spaces are designed and what significance they hold for political participation.
In the Rhine-Main region, hundreds of elected political bodies at local level meet regularly today. Most of their members work on a voluntary basis. Local politics has long since ceased to take place solely in the town hall.
On display are photographs of meeting venues that are often little known to the public. In addition, the KulturRegion’s website and a free accompanying magazine provide background information on the history of democracy, the selected venues and the committees that meet there – ranging from the Women’s Advisory Council to children’s and youth parliaments, local advisory councils and the district council.
