Politische Gestaltungsbegleitung (Prototyp #3)

Gestaltungszentrale Politik e.V. is a non-profit organisation working at the intersection of society, politics, and design. In this project, we turn our attention to the relationship between citizens and political representatives. Our starting point is the observation that established dialogue formats often reach only a fraction of society, and that political decision-making processes remain difficult to follow for many people.

The project pursues three goals: making the experiences of citizens and political representatives visible, using design as a method to improve communication between politics and civil society, and developing prototypical approaches to new formats for political exchange.

The project kicks off with an open workshop in May 2026 in Frankfurt. Citizens and political representatives come together to share their experiences of political encounter and to jointly explore when, where, and how exchange between politics and society happens — and when it breaks down.

The results form the basis for the next project steps: in a following phase, they will be contextualised together with experts from academia and democratic practice. From this, professional designers will develop concrete approaches to new forms of political communication and participation. The outcomes will be publicly presented and documented in autumn 2026 as part of the World Design Capital programme.

Gestaltungszentrale Politik e.V. is a non-profit organisation at the intersection of society, politics, and design. We develop new ways of working within political processes and explore how design can make political decision-making more transparent, comprehensible, and dialogic. In collaboration with political actors, researchers, and professional designers, we create transferable formats for a modern democratic design culture.
