Gesellschaft für Goldschmiedekunst e.V., Deutsches Goldschmiedehaus Hanau
Jewellery, as a visible sign on the body, is one of the most important means of expression for humans. It reveals status and social affiliation, but can also be used to conceal and simulate. The project explicitly explores the question of the symbolic nature of jewellery and when decoration becomes a message. A simple button can express political views, while jewellery art can also refer to complex social issues through its content.
To this end, two interlinked exhibitions will be created at the German Goldsmiths' House and the Kulturforum Hanau, showcasing positions from the 1970s to the present day. At the same time, the students will realise their own project ideas before the exhibition begins, expressing contemporary socio-political issues. The aim of this work is to combine different approaches and perspectives: creators and researchers. The project will therefore be accompanied by a supporting programme in which external experts in Hanau will engage in public dialogue and explore the depth of content in the field of jewellery art.
