Hochschule für Gestaltung Offenbach am Main mit Geschichtswerkstatt Offenbach, studio pari-pari

...

On May 22, 1933, a public book burning organized by the National Socialists took place at Schlossplatz in Offenbach. It was supported by students and teachers of the Technische Lehranstalten, the predecessor institution of HfG Offenbach. In order not to let this wrongdoing be forgotten and to critically engage with current right-wing and fascist tendencies, the “Politics Day” working group at HfG is actively involved.

In collaboration with studio pari–pari, consisting of artists Marina Kampka and Lena Schrieb, as well as the Geschichtswerkstatt Offenbach and its antifascist city tours, the project “Geschichtsabdrucke” was developed and launched on May 22, 2025.

The concept of city stamps developed by studio pari–pari—using a malleable stamp to capture and imprint structures, letters, or forms—met with the Geschichtswerkstatt’s research on sites and events in Offenbach between 1933 and 1945. Building on the results of the workshops, students of HfG created a publication, with additional contributions by historian Andrea Hansert, the initiative Verlage gegen Rechts represented by Simon Wahlers, and art educator Nanna Lüth.

The publication will be presented on May 22, 2026, as part of a public discussion.
