Intergenerational Art and Participation Project: Bürgerzentrum Neue Schule
The former Neue Schule in Roßdorf, parts of which are listed as historic landmarks, now serves as a community center, the location of the municipal library, and the headquarters for children’s and youth services. It is a place of special democratic significance: it symbolizes education, participation, and communal learning and living across generations.
The planned project, part of “50 Years of the Senior Citizens’ Advisory Board – Culture Connects Generations,” brings together youth and older adults and explores, through art and dialogue, how built spaces can enable, commemorate, and transform democratic processes. Participants experience democracy in practice: by listening, co-deciding, negotiating themes, and creating together.
Through photography, creative image editing, and collaborative graffiti, an intergenerational dialogue emerges that brings the past, present, and future of the site to life.
The exhibition opening will take place on September 23; the time will be announced later.
