Aschaffenburg: Freiheitswerkstatt zur Gestaltung des Großen Sitzungssaals im Rathaus

The City Hall is one of the most important landmarks of democracy in Aschaffenburg. Built after the end of the Nazi regime of terror, the first city council meeting was held in the Grand Council Chamber in 1958.

An interactive workshop will explore how the city administration and the local community have dealt with the Nazi legacy and what challenges this has posed for the democratic renewal. The focus will be on the painter Hermann Kaspar, who was commissioned to design the Great Council Chamber and created a large mural there.
