In many places, preserving village community centers poses both structural and economic challenges. This raises questions about the use and design of the spaces.
In Nieder-Beerbach, a public dialogue has sparked ideas for repurposing the fire station. Together with the neighboring community center, the goal is to create an attractive gathering place for the village community in the town center. What experiences have been gained in developing usage concepts? How can these concepts be successfully implemented, and how can the different perspectives of the groups involved be reconciled?

In this respect, village community centers — yesterday as well as today — are important places of democracy.
