Offenbach am Main: Demokratie auf der Spur!

Through intergenerational and intercultural tandem walks with an artistic and practical approach, public spaces in the Mathildenviertel are explored in terms of their democratic significance.

The tandems consist of residents from the neighbourhood of different ages and backgrounds, who become experts on their own living environment. Bringing with them diverse perspectives and individual viewpoints, they set off on a discovery tour and engage in a shared exchange.

What does a place need for me to feel at ease? Which architectural aspects play a role in this? If I could change one thing about the place, what would it be? Using a toolkit for spatial perception – through careful observation, listening and feeling – these spaces are examined. Participants discuss and consider how these spaces can be used equitably by everyone. Using various media and techniques, their own observations are documented in a spatial notebook.
