This lecture by Dr. Christiane Schalles will focus on the town hall, which was inaugurated in 1959 and is located in the heart of Bad Soden.
The town purchased the property only after the previous owner—who has since passed away—was unable to complete the guesthouse he had planned there. A skeleton structure had already been erected, reaching up to the first floor, when Bad Soden asked architect Adam Wagner to draw up plans to transform this building into a new town hall. In 1950, the city administration and the mayor had moved their offices to a villa in order to repurpose the more prestigious Paulinenschlösschen as a “small spa house,” since the original spa house was being used by American soldiers.
