- Rathaustouren: Die historischen Rathausbauten im Süden – Groß-Umstadt, Michelstadt und Miltenberg
KulturRegion in Kooperation mit den Städten Groß-Umstadt, Michelstadt und Miltenberg
This scenic tour showcases historic town halls built between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance.
The Renaissance-style town hall in Groß-Umstadt dominates the historic townscape on the market square. It also reflects the town’s economic importance in the 17th century, a fact that will be explained to us during a guided tour. Michelstadt is home to one of Germany’s most significant late-Medieval half-timbered town halls. With its open ground floor and massive oak posts, it is a walk-through piece of city history that our city guide, Thomas Glintzer, will show us. In Miltenberg, tour guide Dorothea Zöller leads guests through the 17th-century town hall. The building, which was at times used as a municipal winery and a school, has been a visible symbol of democratic structures and active local self-determination since 1946.
