For decades, the Main-Taunus district has championed the integration of art in and on its buildings. Since the construction of the current district administration office, artists have been commissioned to create site-specific works. The five sculptures now displayed in the building’s outdoor area explore themes of democracy, regional history and classical motifs each in a unique style while engaging with the architecture and surroundings.

Among these works is Meilenstein (Milestone) by artist Claudia Pense, which references the ancient Roman road and the Roman camp once located near the district office. During this approximately one-hour guided tour, participants will learn about the background and creation of the outdoor sculptures at the district office, as well as the broader theme of Art in Architecture.
