Die Stadt hört mit – Zuhören als Gestaltung

Our contribution makes the city experienceable as a soundscape. Inspired by R. Murray Schafer's concept of soundscape, we explore how conscious listening can change the way we perceive places and live together.

Participants explore sounds in the city and translate their sonic impressions into compositions using self-built instruments and sound objects. The sounds are captured with contact microphones and processed in Ableton Live using filters and effects.

Together, we create new soundscapes that make experiences and perspectives of the urban environment audible.

Listening becomes a form of participation: The city is not only seen, but heard, interpreted, and collectively shaped.
