With “Soapboxes from Oberursel” we invite participants to a special weekend workshop: At the birthplace of the soapbox, participants design and build their own vehicles. It is not just about speed but about design, collaboration and democracy.
Under the guidance of VHS Oberursel, creative one-of-a-kind soapboxes are built from simple materials. Participants make joint decisions about form, material, colour and function – combining craftsmanship, aesthetic design and democratic processes.
The Babbelbank accompanies the workshop as a place for exchange: here we talk about design, sustainability and community.
Thanks to the support of the Hochtaunus district, participation is free of charge.
The finished soapboxes will not only be presented in the course but also used in the big soapbox race in Oberursel on 15 August 2026. At the race, a jury will award the best soapbox – a highlight showcasing design, creativity and team spirit.
