At the start of the WDC year we introduce the Babbelbank – a transportable piece of furniture, crafted by the Oberursel workshops. Placed next to existing seating, it transforms benches into places of exchange. It stands as a symbol for conversation, community and democratic participation in everyday life.
After the opening, the Babbelbank will be kept permanently in the town library at the marketplace. From there it can be flexibly used – on the square itself or for other events. In addition, a companion website will be set up, where dates and conversation partners can be accessed at any time. Together with the carol singers, patron Mayor Antje Runge and the chair of the local council, we will give an outlook on the planned WDC activities. The event is deliberately low-threshold and organised without stage or loudspeakers – the focus is on direct exchange.
During the year, the Babbelbank will regularly be hosted by different conversation partners. This creates a lively place of encounter, making democratic participation visible and tangible – in the middle of Oberursel and beyond 2026.
Public space, ground-level access, weather permitting. Good public transport connections (S-Bahn, underground, bus).
Free admission, no registration required, language: German.
