Workshop Projektbaustein WIR #4

As a participant, you will create a personal “Culture-in-Your-Luggage” suitcase. This suitcase symbolises your own values, experiences and wishes, as well as our shared life in Germany. Through creative engagement with the theme, you will produce an individual artwork that becomes part of a collective statement for democracy in Germany, grounded in freedom and diversity.

To prepare for the workshop, please reflect on the following questions and sketch your ideas:

• What message do I want my suitcase to convey?
• What is important to me for a form of democracy worth living in?
• How would I like to express my thoughts on the suitcase? (collage, painting, drawing, lettering)
• Which materials would I like to work with? (paper, fabric, watercolours, acrylic paint, fineliners)

Once you have considered these questions, you should have a clear idea of how you would like to design your “Culture-in-Your-Luggage” suitcase. Please feel free to let us know your material preferences. During the workshop, we will be available as conversation partners and, if desired, to support you with advice and practical help.

Your designed suitcase – as an expression of your thoughts, wishes and visions for a shared future in a diverse society – will become part of the social sculpture “WE All Are Germany”: a stylised transparent suitcase measuring approximately 2 m x 2.8 m, serving as a collective statement for democracy in Germany.
