People with immigrant backgrounds have formed a temporary art collective and are presenting personal interpretations of cultural elements from their everyday lives. Through open suitcases, they tell their stories and make identity tangible.
IDENTITIES – OPEN SUITCASES – LIVING HISTORY
A suitcase is often just an object for travel. But what happens when we open it and find not clothes, but an entire soul inside? As part of the “Project Module ICH,” an art collective made up of people from a wide variety of backgrounds has
visually depicted their life journeys in suitcases. Designed from the inside out, these suitcases become windows into a life: they tell of cherished traditions, of pain and hope, of the search for home, and of the courage to reinvent oneself in a foreign land. It is living history that shows migration as a profound, personal part of our shared society.
