Ausstellungseröffnung "Our Eden Lost"

Drawing on representations of pre-colonial hair practices, the installation explores the social and cultural dimensions of the hair salon as a space of collective practice. Hair care and styling are understood not only as aesthetic acts, but also as social practices through which community is created, stories circulate, and knowledge is passed on across generations.

Elizabeth Coleman-Link (UK/D) is a mixed-media artist who develops concepts for site-specific installations and exhibitions.

Our Eden Lost addresses questions of memory, transmission, and cultural heritage, with a particular focus on the role of anonymous and informal forms of knowledge. The work reflects on how personal and collective stories become embedded in material and immaterial archives, and how they can be reactivated within contemporary contexts.

The installation can usually be visited during Saturday events.

The non-profit association “Kulturnetz Frankfurt e. V.” was founded in March 2006 by cultural practitioners from a wide range of fields. Writers, musicians, visual artists, and filmmakers are among its founding members, along with people engaged in cultural youth and educational work. The association sees itself as a platform for independent and self-directed cultural projects and educational programs, as well as an interdisciplinary network connecting different artistic and cultural disciplines.
