Evangelischer Regionalverband / Diakonie Frankfurt und Offenbach
The Weißfrauen Diakoniestelle occupies a special place in the metropolis of Frankfurt: between banks and the troubled railway station district. People whose lives could hardly be more different pass through here. But they are all part of our democracy and share this neighbourhood.
With the urban living space, we want to create a space that invites everyone – so that they can meet and experience this living space as a shared task that needs to be shaped: a church as a living room for the neighbourhood for everyone.
The process of designing this space should itself create opportunities for people to come together. Everyone should be allowed to participate in the design, contribute their needs and wishes, and determine the content. Architects and interior designers should use this input to develop new ideas for the existing church. Initial positive experiences with participatory formats in this neighbourhood have already been gained. We want to build on this.
Diakonie Frankfurt and Offenbach is working together with the Protestant Academy Frankfurt, the BDA Hessen and Hochschule Darmstadt (h_da), as well as the Protestant Church in Hesse and Nassau. The aim is to connect urban society, business and the church.
