An Everyday Device as an Art Object: Drawing, Photography & Video

This course offers you the opportunity to adopt a fresh perspective on electronic devices—specifically smartphones. To this end, the devices themselves become the subjects of our creative work!

In "offline mode," we transform our smartphones into artistic subjects. We analyze commercials and artistic compositions to develop our own creative concepts. Over the course of the workshop, you will design still lifes in which smartphones—with their reflective surfaces—take center stage, creating fascinating visual motifs. We will then translate these motifs into drawings, collages, photographs, and videos. Throughout every stage of the process, the focus lies on close examination, patient observation, and the creative utilization of whatever unfolds in the moment.
