The course “The Smartphone – A Different Perspective” invites participants to view electronic devices, especially smartphones, from a more distanced and reflective standpoint. Instead of functioning as everyday tools for communication and social media interaction, smartphones become physical objects and artistic subjects. In offline mode, they are detached from their usual purpose and revealed as tangible items with reflective surfaces that interact with their spatial surroundings.
Participants create still-life compositions using various objects, with smartphones serving as central elements whose mirrors and reflections generate complex visual structures. These arrangements form the basis for artistic interpretations through drawing, collage, photography, and video. The process emphasizes careful observation, patience, and awareness of spatial and temporal relationships—an exploration of perception and representation.
Finally, the completed works—digital drawings, photographs, and videos—are displayed on the participants’ own smartphones. This presentation symbolically closes the conceptual loop: the device, initially turned into a passive object, once again becomes an active medium for artistic expression and reflection. With more time, the course can expand to focus more deeply on photographic and video-based explorations.
