A design lab and exhibition will be set up in two rooms on the upper floor of the Mayhaus from August 23, 2025, to July 5, 2026. Here, in the anniversary year of Neues Frankfurt, Studio Jonathan Radetz is developing well-thought-out furniture for small floor plans. Living in a few square meters is just as relevant today as it was 100 years ago.

Back then, designers recommended, among other things, the modular furniture by Franz Schuster and Ferdinand Kramer for the apartments of Neues Frankfurt. During the project phase, you had the opportunity to witness how furniture is being crafted in these historic rooms to meet the needs of today’s people. The results of this process will be on display at the mayhaus until July.

Not wheelchair accessible – unfortunately, access is via a single step.

The event will be held in German; admission is free.

Jonathan Radetz is a multidisciplinary designer based in Frankfurt. His experience as a cabinet maker and product designer finds expression in his versatile work, ranging from furniture design to accessories and fine jewellery.

The ernst-may-gesellschaft was founded in 2003 by concerned citizens; as an association, its mission is to document and preserve “New Frankfurt” and to bring it into the current discourse on architecture and urban planning.
