My Yiddish Vacation. A story by Ione Skye. Reading Sunday with a shared craft activity. Ages 4–7.
During the holidays, Ruth and her older brother Sammy visit their grandparents in Florida. Their grandparents use many Yiddish words—a language that sounds a bit like German, but also somehow different. From them, the children learn all sorts of funny words like nudnik, schluf, and oy vey. With this story inspired by her own childhood, actress Ione Skye created her first children’s book. As a former partner of Adam Horovitz, she was part of the extended Beastie Boys family.

The Jewish Museum Frankfurt makes the diversity of Jewish cultures in history and the present tangible. To this end, it collects, preserves and researches cultural assets and testimonies of Jewish life in Frankfurt. Through its art and cultural history exhibitions, educational programmes and digital offerings – as well as its commitment to experimental formats – the Jewish Museum Frankfurt aims to be a museum without walls.
