SCAPE° - Wetter. Klima. Mensch.
It is intended to improve the quality of life in the pedestrian zone, inviting people to meet, chat, read and play, and also providing space for smaller events such as readings or concerts “in the middle of the street.”
The outdoor living room consists of furniture that can be moved or rearranged. Permanent features include a sandbox for children, parasols, and large planters, which will be planted and maintained with edible and insect-friendly plants as part of a community initiative. The furniture will be designed and built specifically for this purpose. The living room will remain in place beyond WDC.
The event series “Wetter Mi. – Wohnzimmer um 6 pm” (Weather Wed. – Living Room at 6 pm) will explore the topics of design, democracy, and upcycling on Wednesdays starting at 6 pm. Starting in April, workshops, talks, and hands-on activities will bring together citizens and experts to explore how sustainable design can contribute to strengthening the community. The series not only promotes creative thinking and practical action, but also raises awareness of democratic and resource-efficient coexistence in urban areas.
