The event opens with a keynote and guest commentary by Benedikt Stoll (Berlin), founder of Good Places, board member of Urbane Praxis e.V., and former member of Guerilla Architects. This will be followed by an open discussion of the exhibited works and the themes they address, inviting participants to exchange ideas and perspectives.
The focus is on public spaces as essential places for a democratic and open society. This includes not only public spaces in the legal sense—such as streets, parks, and squares—but also spaces that provide publicly accessible functions that are often missing yet vital for social cohesion: spaces for specific groups or programmes, safe spaces for communities, and places for collective use, both indoors and outdoors.
In collaboration with universities and higher education institutions across the region, selected neighbourhoods and sites have been explored to reveal their potential as public spaces. The exhibited projects examine both existing uses and underutilised spatial opportunities, while proposals and sketches offer new perspectives on the future of our built environment.
