Public – urban spaces for everyone

Ausstellung: Öffentlich – Räume der Stadt für alle

In collaboration with universities and higher education institutions across the region, selected neighborhoods and places within the RheinMain area were explored to highlight their potential as public spaces. Designs and sketches open up perspectives on the future of our environment. The focus lies both on current forms of use and on the untapped potential of spaces. This exhibition presents the contributions developed by the participating universities and higher education institutions.

Within seminars, public spaces were observed, analyzed, and represented with regard to specific qualities: How and where are flea markets organized? Which spaces are available to people of Muslim faith? What kinds of activities and opportunities are offered by associations and community organizations? How can initiatives, associations, and, more broadly, civil society actors contribute to the cooperative development of semi-public urban spaces? What needs exist, and where do spaces offer suitable opportunities for them? Where can vacancy be identified, and which places are embraced or neglected?

The exhibition emerged from the results of these exemplary investigations conducted in various cities across the RheinMain region and is presented together with BDA Hessen at the WerkRaum Wiesbaden.
