Loomcycle
Museum Angewandte Kunst / raumlaborberlin
LOOMCYCLE is a mobile loom for collective weaving — a symbolic act of participation and shared involvement.
How do we imagine museums in the future? What happens when people do not go to the museum, but the museum comes to them — in the form of a mobile loom that stands for connection, collective making and participation?
From February to May 2026, LOOMCYCLE (with “loom” meaning a weaving loom in English), developed by raumlaborberlin, will travel through different neighbourhoods of Frankfurt. It will stop at places and events where people come together and new connections can form. In community centres, on market squares and at neighbourhood festivals, we — together with local initiatives and partner institutions — invite people to take part: to weave, to talk with one another, and to experience design as a collective, democratic process.
Saturday, 14 February, 15:00 & Sunday, 15 February, 11:00
Opening events with initiator and artist Francesco Apuzzo (raumlaborberlin) at the Museum Angewandte Kunst.
Sunday, 17 May, 14:00
Closing event with a shared community picnic on and around the woven carpet at the Museum Angewandte Kunst.
Would you like the loom to come to you, or would you like to weave at the museum?
