Our democracy is based on respectful exchange and curiosity about people and their different opinions, wishes, experiences and stories.

Civic engagement makes an important contribution to this. The Freiwilligenzentrum Offenbach e.V. (Offenbach Volunteer Centre) offers discussions on sustainability, participation and urban design at a new location in the pedestrian zone. Examples are: nutrition, education, urban greenery, health, mobility, accessibility.

From April to September 2026, ‘Engagier-Bars’ (volunteering bars) will be held once a month. In addition to FzOF and neighbourhood management, non-profit associations/initiatives and municipal institutions will introduce themselves and offer hands-on activities. This will draw people's attention to opportunities for engagement in Offenbach, not least in the areas of environmental, nature and climate protection. A mobile bar will be designed as a common denominator and visual identifier. Small vegetarian and vegan snacks and drinks will be available, either free of charge or for a small fee.
