When we look up at the sky at night, we see many stars. But we don't see that there's also a lot of space debris orbiting Earth. This debris is called space junk. It comes from humans, for example, from old satellites or parts of rockets.

This debris usually stays in space and doesn't simply disappear. Therefore, space is slowly becoming more and more crowded, and this can become a problem.

In the "Space Junk Mobile" workshop, you'll learn about space travel and sustainability in a playful and creative way. You'll discover exciting facts about space. At the same time, you'll think about the problems that can arise when humans send more and more things into space. You'll also have the opportunity to create and experiment with something yourself.

This workshop was conceived by artists Kati Hyyppä and Niklas Roy. In cooperation with KIKK and Creative Coding Utrecht. Funded by the European Union's Erasmus+ program. Also made possible by the generous support of the Crespo Foundation.
