Loneliness in old age can affect quality of life, health and social participation. How can we facilitate social interaction, strengthen social relationships and reach out to people who have little access to a sense of community?
In this ideas sprint, we will work together to develop ideas on how volunteering can contribute to this: How do we recruit and engage volunteers? What outreach services are needed? And how can volunteers be properly trained and supported? Together, we will generate new impetus for greater closeness, participation and community spirit at a local level.
The workshop is based on qualitative interviews conducted by Master’s students from the "Social Work" programme at RheinMain University of Applied Sciences, and quantitative surveys carried out by Master’s students from the ‘Healthcare Management’ programme at the Wiesbaden Business School. The partner for this workshop is EVIM (EVIM – Evangelical Association for Inner Mission in Nassau)
