A Home for Birds and People – Designing Coexistence

What might a world look like that meets the needs of many living beings? How can parks, gardens, or schools be designed so that they serve more than just humans? What forms should things and places take so that birds can rest, have enough space to fly, and provide for their young?

Let’s give wing to our imagination and design houses, nests, furniture, and city models for people, birds, and other living creatures. After all, we humans share the planet with other animals and things. Let’s spend two afternoons together developing our visions for the future: for shared living spaces and sustainable coexistence. As we plan, let’s keep in mind the needs and perspectives of birds and other animals.

The Sinclair-Haus Museum’s Open-Air Studio and artists Laura Fugger and Linnan Zhang invite you to join in. In this workshop, we’ll sketch designs and build small cardboard models. People of all ages are welcome. No prior experience is necessary. Just drop by whenever you like. You decide when to come and how long to stay.

The open-air studio is a free hands-on art activity organized by the Sinclair-Haus Museum in conjunction with the exhibition “Bird’s-Eye Views: The Birds and Us.” Visit us on many other dates at the museum and around town (in front of the Technical City Hall, Wednesdays, May 13–July 29, 2026, 2:30–5:00 p.m.).
