Broken Frames Syndicate

Only works by female and non-binary composers will be performed – the programme offer an alternative to social norms and give a voice to those who are too rarely heard.

The concerts with musicians from the Broken Frames Syndicate will take place in the foyer of the Frankfurt City Library. Surrounded by a parallel world of inflatable objects, the diversity of contemporary music and our society will be celebrated.

Accompanying educational formats provide information about intersectional feminism and combine research with art and music. In collaboration with the Archive for Women and Music, a collection of materials and an audio guide are being created. Information material on the topic and the programs will be made available at specially designed, interactive information stations – the audience can put together their own individual concert introduction at any time and learn about feminism and current music.

Four curated individual events on various (queer) feminist topics are planned: exclusion/marginalization, fluidity, (em)powerment, and (in)visibility. The programs will be supplemented by lectures from the Archive for Women & Music, which will introduce open discussion rounds on the topic. Together, the interdisciplinary team creates creative, public meeting spaces where discourse on complex topics is possible.
