The programme features exclusively works by FLINTA* artists—offering an alternative to societal norms and amplifying voices that are too rarely heard. Titled “AUS/ABGRENZUNG,” the first concert in the series addresses the themes of boundaries and discrimination.
We live in a society that deliberately discriminates against and excludes certain groups through various forms of boundaries. Numerous “gender gaps” highlight the inequalities that prevail in our daily lives and how FLINTA* individuals in particular face discrimination in many areas of life.
In addition, national borders also physically and violently separate us from one another. Millions of people worldwide suffer from displacement and forced migration. While women flee for the same reasons as men, women, girls, and queer people in particular face additional gender-specific threats, persecution, and violence during their flight.
The event presents two works by composer Julia Mihály that address displacement, Europe’s external borders, and asylum policy. The program features the installation piece “Oh, das Universum, denken sie” and the new, staged work “Ein Glas Wasser.” Created in collaboration with author Sina Ahlers and musicians from the Broken Frames Syndicate, the piece addresses European asylum policy and the situation in refugee camps.
Interaction with our audience is important to us, especially with a topic like this. That is why we invite you to an open discussion following the concert.
