Intervention / Initiative
The Lange Bank is a modular and space-creating piece of street furniture that wanders across Frankfurt's squares as an artistic intervention. It can be flexibly designed and offers a wide range of uses – from a place of relaxation and tranquillity to a meeting and event venue, a stage or even a grandstand.
At regular ‘summit meetings,’ interested citizens can decide together on the next location and the respective form of the Lange Bank. The German Architecture Museum coordinates the project and develops an accompanying programme of workshops, cultural events and activities together with the neighbourhoods of the respective locations.
The Lange Bank allows public spaces to be temporarily and experimentally activated and tested for new potential uses. It is intended to support encounters in public spaces and strengthen democratic participation in the development and transformation of public spaces.
