Young people aged 14 to 18 are invited to explore the Hochheim Wine Festival through photography. In this street photography workshop with Frankfurt-based photographer Stephan Lauterbach, participants create authentic images using their smartphones.
How does a festival change when the focus shifts from celebrating to observing? When moments condense and individual scenes turn into visual stories?
The meeting point is the exhibition HOCHHEIM:WEINFESTSELIG, which explores the history of the Hochheim Wine Festival. The workshop begins with an approximately one-hour introduction to the fundamentals of street photography: perspective, attitude, proximity and distance, light, sequence and context – using the smartphone as a conscious tool.
Participants then spend around two to two and a half hours exploring the festival independently, observing, photographing and developing their own visual language in a public setting. The workshop concludes with a joint review and discussion of the images. The total duration is approximately four hours.
“I understand street photography as attentive observation and the search for small stories in public space,” says Lauterbach. “It’s about real, unposed moments – and about capturing everyday scenes in a way that gives light, encounters and atmospheres a new meaning
