Planning and implementation with responsibility – tips and examples for sustainable events
Sustainability begins at the planning stage – especially when it comes to events. Lust auf besser Leben will show you how to plan and organise events responsibly and with a focus on the future.
This includes practical measures such as vegetarian, locally sourced catering, avoiding single-use products, ensuring accessible design, promoting climate-friendly travel and working with local and fair suppliers. Whether it's an exhibition, a workshop or a panel discussion – every event can be made more sustainable and encourage responsible action. Using concrete examples, Dr. Jaya Bowry shows you how to successfully implement sustainable practices.
Felix Große-Lohmann will then introduce the initiative Material für Alle, which will be active as part of WDC 2026 to support projects in their sustainable implementation.

Dr. Jaya Bowry is a cultural anthropologist with a PhD and has been active in the field of sustainability for over ten years. In her talk, she shares her extensive experience from projects and a wide range of events she has delivered in collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
Felix Große-Lohmann founded the Frankfurt-based initiative MFA – Material für Alle. Since 2019, MFA has been redistributing used materials from the cultural sector, creating sustainable circular systems for exhibitions and events in the Frankfurt RheinMain region.
