As part of the WDC programme, we are celebrating the opening of the "Green Room"—a new educational space for connection, dialogue, and positive visions of the future. The Green Room invites people of all ages to shape the future together, learn from one another, and discover new perspectives on sustainable development.

To mark the opening, guests can look forward to inspiring contributions from various Frankfurt-based initiatives, alongside guided tours of the urban farm—a place where the future is actively put into practice. We look forward to an engaging few hours filled with conversation, dialogue, ideas, and new encounters. The Green Room is being built at the "Future Location" urban farm, located at Hainer Weg 255.The Frankfurt urban farm is the GemüseheldInnen’s largest site, spanning $4,600\text{ m}^2$. Here, more than 30 volunteers garden collectively on a regular basis according to permaculture principles to combat the climate crisis. Fresh fruit and vegetables grow for everyone who pitches in—nurturing a community that empowers one another, all united by the desire for a future that is sustainable and climate-just. Taking active, collective action through gardening strengthens people's sense of self-efficacy and fosters optimism against climate anxiety and resignation. We want to share this experience with as many people as possible—and by summer 2026, we will have jointly created an all-weather space for dialogue and education: the "Green Room".On 28 August, we will inaugurate this new community space during a free, public event featuring a "Visions Café". In this format, which we developed ourselves, participants will playfully use associative techniques to strengthen their imagination. After all, only those who can imagine a positive future can actually shape it! As a collectively built community space embedded within the inspiring future location of the Frankfurt urban farm, the garden house is designed to create a permanent thinking space for hopeful visions of the future, with a layout that actively encourages the exchange of ideas. During the opening and the free public Visions Café, everyone interested is invited to develop visions for a good future with fair resource distribution and habitats for both humans and animals—essentially, Design for Democracy inside your own mind!
