GemüseheldInnen Frankfurt e.V.
Biologist Chris Kircher guides visitors through the enchanted paths of the partially overgrown allotment garden area of the Green Lung in Frankfurt's Nordend district.
There is much to discover here: ancient trees, countless animal species and fascinating plants. And, of course, the permaculture gardens of the Vegetable Heroes, where volunteers grow fruit and vegetables – all in the middle of the city of Frankfurt. Here, the GemüseheldInnen have also created an urban forest garden – a garden concept that offers many constructive solutions to the problems of our time: shade and cooling on hot days, water conservation, the combination of climate, species and environmental protection with regional food production and, in this case, even the preservation of an important cold air corridor as publicly accessible green space for the city's population.
Venue: Green lung at Günthersburgpark in Frankfurt's Nordend district,
meeting point for the tour: Car park at Günthersburg adventure playground at the end of Wetteraustraße
