GemüseheldInnen Frankfurt e.V.
The GemüseheldInnen (Vegetable Heroes), a large civil society climate protection initiative with 18 community gardens and an urban farm in the centre of Frankfurt, are offering a wide range of events on topics such as permaculture, urban farming and biodiversity.
In times of multiple crises, more and more people are suffering from anxiety and depression, feeling helpless and powerless in the face of threats. In big cities, we lack the connection to nature and green spaces that we need to reduce stress and breathe deeply. Our public participatory activities, workshops and community offerings give people the opportunity to experience self-efficacy against the climate crisis through active participation – and to spend time surrounded by urban greenery. Our vision is to make Frankfurt edible as a community – we garden together against the climate crisis and for livable urban development. In our 18 community gardens, interested parties can volunteer in permanent gardening teams, participate sporadically in participatory activities or deepen their knowledge in educational programmes and workshops – and experience community.
As part of the WDC 2026 programme, we would like to offer various events on topics such as permaculture, urban farming, biodiversity, community building and positive visions for the future. Our gardens and the Frankfurt City Farm provide the perfect setting for this.
We advertise all activities on our website and social media and invite anyone interested to get involved. Current events can always be found here: https://gemueseheldinnen.de/veranstaltungen/
