Das fliegende S mit Crespo Foundation & Quartiersmanagement Preungesheim
...
An artistic and experimental project is planned to collaboratively shape the future of Gravensteiner Platz in Preungesheim. Open participation events and in-depth workshops will take place daily. The program will be complemented by construction labs and a concluding festive presentation. Gravensteiner Platz has so far been a largely undeveloped space with little appeal as a place to spend time, yet it connects different residential neighborhoods and diverse social groups—a potential that has hardly been tapped to date.
The Fliegende KünstlerInnenzimmer will serve as a temporary anchor while the future design of the square remains open. We deliberately view this openness as an opportunity. Together with the residents, the square will be explored and shaped as a space of possibilities. Design is understood here as a collective process of observation, inquiry, and experimentation. Methodologically, the project draws on Design Futuring and speculative practices. Through sensory, performative, and collaborative formats, alternative future scenarios are brought to life and diverse needs are made visible. Ideas, wishes, and needs are gathered and visualized in open formats. In construction labs, these future scenarios are translated into concrete, walk-through prototypes. Using existing materials, interventions are created that allow people to directly experience possible uses of the square.
Local initiatives, artists, and other stakeholders are actively involved. At the festive closing event, the results are presented, tested, and reflected upon through feedback sessions. The goal is to provide inspiration for the future design of the square and to empower residents in the long term as active shapers of their own urban space.
