TEXT MATTERS. MATTERS OF TEXT 2026

TEXT MATTERS. MATTERS OF TEXT is a festival celebrating the materiality of language, which in its third season focuses on the book in its historical and contemporary context.

Under the programmatic title A BOOK IS A SERIES OF SPACES, which goes back to a manifesto by the writer and conceptual artist Ulises Carrión, we intend to reinterpret the book as a democratic utopia from April to September 2026. This means that, if we begin to no longer limit the book to its classic historical form, we will understand it not as an inanimate object, but as a social sculpture.

To this end, Präposition, the Klingspor Museum and the Offenbach University of Art and Design are collaborating in two programme sections that, through the interplay of positions from literature, design and art, will enable a grand narrative of the book as a medium of a society engaged in discourse with itself.
