Playground 2.0

For quite some time, the former McDonald’s location in the heart of Darmstadt’s city center has stood empty. Through the Stadtpunkte Darmstadt project, this space is being temporarily repurposed to visibly revitalize a vacant site and generate new perspectives for the city center. This is precisely what we at prima e.V. view as a vital mission: not to let abandoned spaces sit idle, but to transform them once again into places of encounter, creativity, and participation.

With prima PLAYGROUND 2.0, we are once again transforming this former fast-food site into an open space for culture and community. For three weeks, a venue will emerge right in the city center—a place where people can come together, ideas can take shape, and culture becomes accessible to everyone with minimal barriers. Our goal is to make the city center a more livable place and to demonstrate the immense potential hidden within seemingly abandoned spaces.

A diverse and free program awaits you, featuring music, talks, workshops, exhibitions, performances, and evening events. During the day, the space serves as a meeting point, workspace, and experimental hub; in the evening, it transforms into a stage for culture, dialogue, and shared experiences. prima PLAYGROUND 2.0 sees itself as an open invitation to everyone: to join in, drop by, exchange ideas, and experience culture together—right in the heart of the city.
