Staatliche Zeichenakademie Hanau

With KulturErben, the Staatliche Zeichenakademie Hanau create an open space for the creative exploration of cultural heritage as something not fixed in the past, but rather changing, evolving, and being shared.

The starting point for the project is the inclusion of goldsmithing and silversmithing in UNESCO’s list of Intangible Cultural Heritage in April 2025. This recognition highlights the significance of traditional craftsmanship and inspires a renewed conversation about its relevance today. With over 250 years of history, the Zeichenakademie exemplifies this connection between tradition and the future.

In numerous sub-projects new perspectives on cultural heritage will be thought together. The purpose is not only to create handcrafted objects, but to open up an area for dialogue, responsibility, and social participation.

At the heart of KulturErben is openness: the initiative is intergenerational and inclusive. Different perspectives converge in workshops, open studios, artistic interventions, and more. Cultural Heritage welcomes all to add their thoughts and participate – it creates meeting points for collaboration and brings people from all walks of life together.

Cultural Heritage demonstrates that cultural heritage is alive – and emerges through exchange, design, and what we pass on today.
