always and forever – Strategien und Perspektiven zu Care
GEDOK FrankfurtRheinMain e.V.
Always and forever – Strategies and Perspectives on Care addresses the highly political topic of care and advocates for equality, exchange, and community. At the Alte Schmelze on the Milchsackgelände, the exhibition presents artistic positions from a wide range of disciplines. The concept of care is understood beyond the topics of caregiving, motherhood, and the role of women. Care is THE challenge facing society as a whole in the near future. The artists' association GEDOK FrankfurtRheinMain e.V. is committed to equality for female artists and raises awareness of this controversial topic.
In cooperation with the Archiv Frau & Musik, the world's largest and most important archive for female composers, a concert will be held at which compositions by forgotten female composers will be reinterpreted and performed. There will also be a reading and community events with other participants.
The project will be rounded off by a two-day symposium in collaboration with the renowned Cornelia Goethe Center for Gender Studies. Scientists from the field of gender studies at Goethe University Frankfurt, among others, will focus on selected topics in panels and discussion rounds. Always and forever is a broad-based collaboration between various actors from the scientific and cultural disciplines, with the aim of deepening understanding of the content in as accessible a way as possible and in a relaxed atmosphere through guided tours and community meetings.
The project is organised by the artists' association GEDOK FrankfurtRheinMain e.V. in cooperation with the Cornelia Goethe Centre for Gender Studies (CGC) and the Archive for Women and Music. The CGC is an interdisciplinary and internationally oriented research and study centre at Goethe University Frankfurt am Main. The Archive for Women and Music has been dedicated to documenting the history of women's music for more than 40 years. GEDOK FrankfurtRheinMain e.V. aims to strengthen the network between artists, cultural professionals, and art patrons in order to enhance the professional standing of artists and promote equality.
